Autism Waiver Services

The Maryland State Autism Waiver is a state and federally funded program that provides instructional services for children with autism spectrum disorder in their homes and community.

Trellis has provided services to over 200 families on the Autism Waiver. Our curriculum uses motivation-based learning to build skills and address the individualized needs of every child.

Trellis provides the following Autism Waiver Services:

We are committed to providing the above listed services using a team model, in which families and professionals work closely together to develop and implement effective treatment plans to accelerate the progress of each learner. Our staff participates in professional development, team assessment and treatment planning meetings, as well as specific training in instructor intervention strategies.

Therapeutic Integration Services

As part of our Autism Waiver services, we designed the Therapeutic Integration (TI) after school program to provide learners between the ages of 7 to 21 years of age with the maximum amount of opportunities to develop social skills in a group setting.

Our small client to staff ratio (3:1) allows participants to develop physical, mental, social, and functional abilities in a safe and nurturing environment. We use fun, interactive, and structured group activities to promote the expansion of play and leisure skills. Children are grouped with peers and remain active and engaged for the duration of the time that they attend the program. Examples of daily group activities include art, music, dance, yoga, cooking, and social skills groups.

Children who enjoy attending and have success in this program are able to participate in group settings, physically engage with activity materials, show interest in various structured activities, seek social interaction, and follow simple instructions.

The TI program is offered at our Hunt Valley location, as well as through partnerships with the Phillips School in Laurel, MD, and the Boys and Girls Club of Harford County. Through our partnerships we are able to serve more youth in Maryland and continue our dedication to creating community-based after school programs.

TI is regulated and primarily funded by the Maryland State Autism Waiver, however, learners with private funding are encouraged to participate and LISS funds are accepted.
